OUR SHOP'S HISTORY

A timeline showing how the business came together, where it became established and the shops along the journey to Northend's current location.

June 1976
June 1976

Estes Gear and Machine Co.

Mosler Ave in Hamilton of Estes Gear and Machine Co. is where Dan Rockenfelder and Dave Shope first met. Duane Ratcliff joined here in the summer of 1978 and the ideas of Northend Machine Co. began to form.
January 1988
January 1988

The First Shop

The trio established Northend Machine Co. in a 2,500 square foot building with a 12" Bradford engine lathe and a single piston air compressor that was made in the late 1940s. The company quickly outgrew this space.
July 1989
July 1989

The Second Shop

Northend Machine Co. moved into a 7,000 square foot building. After 2 years with this space, the company out grew once again.
October 1992

Our Current Location

A chance encounter with a local builder led the business to its current location. Dan, Duane, and Dave built a 12,000 square foot building at 475 Security Dr. Fairfield, Ohio and added a 6,000 square feet addition in 1997. In 2014, the last part of the shop was completed, which added 8,960 square feet. Northend Machine Co. now has a total of 26,960 square feet under roof.
